Hi Mario:

If I may comment on the same issue:

***** Mario:
The correct way to ask the question is "would I see an object if I could see it when I cannot see it?", which instantly reveals the foolishness.
*****

Oh, foolishness is it! I certainly can see it in my mind's eye and that is the central issue to our understanding the Universe. That is exactly what is meant by a mental model of reality. The thing to remember is that the image is still only in your mind's eye even when your eyes are open!

***** Mario:
In the absence of any possible information on the subject, I would suggest that external stimuli would be neccesary for any kind of experience.
*****

See, now I would take the opposite stance: I suspect that some of my dreams might not need "external" stimuli! It seems to me the question should be asked, "can people dream in a sensory deprivation tank?

***** Mario:
Do you think the universe will end when you die? Or if a bomb went off while you were asleep nothing would happen? :) Perhaps it would make no difference relative to you, but that is an extremely hazy issue that we shouldn't base conclusions off of.
*****

I think it will for me! If it doesn't, I won't regard myself as "dead"! In fact, I wonder if it is possible for me to regard myself as dead!

Have fun -- Dick
