The correct way to ask the question is "would I see an object if I could see it when I cannot see it?", which instantly reveals the foolishness.

Though I agree with you on the subject of no absolute claims to knowledge, you seem fairly sure about the existence of an external reality being a fallacy. I think Alan's question is perfectly fair.

In the absence of any possible information on the subject, I would suggest that external stimuli would be neccesary for any kind of experience.

Do you think the universe will end when you die? Or if a bomb went off while you were asleep nothing would happen? :) Perhaps it would make no difference relative to you, but that is an extremely hazy issue that we shouldn't base conclusions off of.
