Philosophy helped make our modern world
with freedom of expression being not the
natural state of affairs, but an accomplishment
of an uphill effort by strong minds who loved
humanity. I credit philosophers for inventing: the free market "with a somewhat level playing field"; the public-plus-private economic systems, and the modern rationale for international trade
instead of warfare, the concept of due process for justice,
the protection of scientific inquiry, appreciation of ancient history, and the U.S. Constitution and
Bill of Rights among other things.
