Just for fun I wanted to see if I could craft the story of Genesis to be consistent with scientific knowledge. To my knowledge I stayed within the possible interpretations of the Hebrew, but added a few 'missing' details (smile). Have fun reading the story of Genesis in a different light:

DAY 1 : The formation of Earth:

In the beginning God had caused the whole universe and eventually the 'earth' to exist. After billions of years had passed the earth was not quite with solid form, it was a proto-earth, void and part of a developing solar system inside a nebula whose aftereffects were from a supernova. Inside this nebula, darkness was on the face of proto-earth - as it evolved in the deep of space. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the gaseous proto-earth. Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light. The gases over a few hundred million years condensed enough so that the sun began to have thermonuclear reactions. Light for the first time penetrated the remnant hydrogen and helium gases that blocked all light (e.g., from nearby stars). The sun's light reached the newly formed surface of the earth. And God saw the light and that it was good. God caused the earth to have a rotation so that light was divided from the darkness. God's action resulted in us calling the light 'Day', and his action resulted in us calling the darkness 'Night'. This was the first major transition of earth history. The 'evening' and the 'morning' of this major transition were the first 'day' of earth.

DAY 2 : The Evolution of an Atmosphere:

Then God said, "Let there be an atmosphere to separate the earth's surface from space". Thus God made the atmosphere, and divided the chemistry of earth from the void of space; and it was so. And God's actions resulted in us calling this vast area the 'sky'. So the next major transition for earth's history was complete, this marks another 'evening' and 'morning' which make up the second 'day'.

DAY 3: The Evolution of the Oceans:

Then God said, "Let the waters evaporate and settle together in the larger basins of earth, and let the molten rock of earth harden and let land appear as a result"; and it was so. And God's action resulted in us calling the dry land Earth, and by his gathering together of water - this resulted in us calling them oceans. And God saw that it was good. Then God said, "Let the earth bring forth primitive plant life, which will eventually evolve into the herb that yields seed, and the fruit tree that yields fruit according to its kind, whose seed is in itself, on the earth"; and it was so. And the earth brought forth primitive plant life through a long process of evolution. Eventually the earth through natural evolution brought forth the herb that yields seed according to its kind, and the tree that yields fruit, whose seed is in itself according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. So this marks another major transition of earth, the 'evening' and the 'morning' were the third 'day'.

DAY 4: Solar Wind removes the Nebula Cloud:

Then God said, "Let there be lights in the heights of the sky to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years for the intelligence that is to come; and let them be for lights in the sky to give light on the earth"; and it was so. The nebula gases of the solar system were swept away by a solar wind. The billions of stars and galaxies in the universe became visible some 4 billion years ago - at the infancy of life's evolution. Then, by God's actions, this resulted in two great lights of earth's sky: the greater light, the sun, to rule the day, and the lesser light, the moon, to rule the night. By his actions the stars were destined to also have a dramatic effect upon the life that was to come. God had made sure that it was this way, the way he intended, so that light would be an important principle for the intelligence that was to evolve. Light, as a symbol of knowledge, would rule over darkness that is a symbol of ignorance. And God saw that it was good. So another major transition had occurred, the 'evening' and the 'morning' were the fourth day.

DAY 5: The Evolution of First Lifeforms:

Then God said, "Let the oceans abound with an abundance of living creatures, and let flying creatures of all sorts fly above the earth across and in the atmosphere." So God caused the evolution of great sea life and every living thing that moves, with which the oceans abound, according to their genetic description, and every winged flying creature according to its genetic description. Evolution's first flying creations were the halfhearted attempts by fish in the early Devonian periods, then later dragonflies, then birds, and then mammals such as the bat. And God saw that it was good. And God blessed them, saying, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let the flying species multiply on the earth." So another major transition had occurred on earth, the 'evening' and the 'morning' were the fifth 'day'.

DAY 6 : The Evolution of Land Animals/Humans:

Then God said, "Let the earth bring forth the living creature on land according to its kind: eventually evolving to include the animals that early human farmers will be most familiar such as cattle, and anthropods, and mammals of all varieties, each according to its genetic description"; and it was so. And God caused the land mammals of the earth according to its genetic description, cattle according to its genetic description, and everything including anthropods on the earth according to its genetic description. And God saw that it was good.
Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every anthropod that moves on the earth." So God caused man to exist in his own image; in the image of God he caused him; male and female he caused them to exist. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and learn the laws of the universe and use those laws to manipulate nature for your own good; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth." But, I ask you to remember this one thing, it is I that has given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food. Also, I have given you every beast of the earth, to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps on the earth, in which there is life. I have even given you every green herb for food"; and it was so. Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. So the major transitions on earth up to now is finished. The 'evening' and the 'morning' were the sixth day.

Warm regards, Harv
