However, current understanding is that if the universe is accelerating then there is another 'force' that is causing it (possibly Einstein's negative gravitational 'constant' Lambda). Since even 'missing mass' would still be a negative factor toward any accelerated expansion, there apparently isn't enough such mass to keep this hidden 'force' from causing the universe to accelerate.
