Just ain't sure what proportion of the phenomenon you describe is inherited neurologically and which is a result of a cacophony of distractions over a long period...
It can result in mate selection being based on
worse criteria, so will likely have the result
you are implying it has already...
these things have a funny way of revealing new angles and unexpected consequences every few years.
