Interesting thing about Buddhism.

As to scales, Western music has several of them, but they are all made of a choice of seven out of the twelve. The remaining five are called chromatic notes, and even though you're not prevented from using them they are still not considered part of the scale. They are quite difficult to use, in fact, as they tend to sound "wrong".
