I of course agree that it is quite unlikely for the earth to come to an end. However, it is a distinct possibility that the human species could come to an end. The final biblical prophecy is that the human history will not end, by the grace of god. Somehow I do not find that comforting.

What I do find comforting is that every nation that today has a developed nuclear arsenal is right now a member of the anti-terrorism coalition. It took 9/11 to make that happen. Perhaps it a hundred years when the nuclear crisis is long past, the world will note that the turning point was 9/11. That will then perhaps appear to be an act of god, such are his/her mysterious ways.
