You had to use more words to explain it because that's not what you said the first time. I did not remember your referenced conversation with Dick from two months ago. It is necessary, when making a general proposition, to encode it entirely into the present prose.

I am glad that was not your view, but in petty self-justification, I plead that I did almost no interpretation, but only read exactly what you said and extrapolated necessary ramifications from those exact words.

My reply may be boring or useless. Sorry about that.
