Like dark matter and energy, and string theory or quantum gravity, or inflationary cosmology. Furthermore, current science- at least in physics- is so complex that very few people can claim to really understand it, let alone create it. I cannot. So we have to rely on the high priests of physics both to create it and to explain to us what it means(the latter is the more difficult).
