Doesn't Work In QM

Alex,

Here are Newton's 'laws':

***An object will continue in its state of motion unless acted on by an external force***

Violation: (QM) Quantum tunneling illustrates that a particle can be at rest and automatically 'tunnel' through a barrier.

***An object acted on by an external force will change its momentum in the direction of the acting force. The stronger the force the greater the change in momentum (F= dp/dt)***

Violation: (QM) According to Newton dp/dt-F is equal to zero. According to the quantum mechanics this expression corresponds to a quantum operator which cannot be equal to the zero operator.

***For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.***

Violation: (QM) For every action there is a high probability that there is an equal and opposite reaction but that probability is less than 1.

Newton's laws are not valid universally.

Warm regards, Harv
