Mr. Pearson,

I think political correctness is a necessary tool to help our society progress. It may at times and in places be a little out of hand, but I think this is simply a reflection of the larger picture.

Unfortunately, its naysayers tend to rely and perpetuate sometimes-incorrect 'common knowledge' on the matter. For instance, the term 'Afro-American' (and its adulteration 'African-American') is at least 130 years old, and means 'especially of negroid descent.' Opponents of PI would have us believe the term is something liberals shat ten years ago to make black Americans feel better about themselves, and that applying the term to only blacks is incorrect.

So long as PI doesn't enable someone to strip you of your rights, I see no big threat. If and when it does (allow someone to deny you your rights), then activate! Call Fox News or someone.
