RT: Hi. Plants depend on insects for pollination and so have evolved all kinds of things to attract them. The glucose is used in the friuts by the way, to attract animals so taht the friuts can be carried home by them and facilitate dispersion of seeds.

Greg: The cells I am refering to are in the root system. A measure of the glucose is used throughout the plant to provide for growth, but the excess is stored in the roots, and the plant makes no use of it, but insects and animals do. This does not promote pollination, or disperse the seed.

The flowers that attracted the insects were the ones that got pollinated, so they are the ones that evolved.

Try to explain the mechanism by which evolution produced a carrot. It provides sustanance for the rabbit, not the carrot plant, and the rabbit does nothing to promote the carrot plant's evolution.
