So, you're saying, it's not the media, it's the medium of exchange (that does the counting).

Or do you mean, it's not the current scuttlebutt, it's the currency (that does the counting).

Or were you trying to say, it's not the career communicators who make decisions -- it's little pieces of paper that make the decisions.
