GR and QM will be consistent with string theory within their respective domains. GR is not in trouble because it was never meant as a description of gravity at scale less than the Planck length. Thats what qunatum gravity is all about. If string theory turns out to be a coherent description of quantum gravity then scale less than the Planck length will probably be a moot meaningless topic of discussion. |
