Believing that engels can save you from bad things, and that mighty "beings" rule the universe.

This is clearly primitive (medieval, or even pre-medieval) understanding of nature. Progressive mankind (including communists, by the way) discarded superstitions long ago.

I think, it is lack of quality education in the "free west" which does not allow masses to understand how nature works, thus allow them to still live in dark ages.
