The scriptural reference may be for prior humanoid evolutions in the Milky Way on other star/planetary systems. The knowledge gained from these other human experiences may be available to intelligent beings in the supernatural environment of our own planet. As such, those beings, or a single being called god, knows the pitfalls of human intelligence, especially with the invention of science and the discovery of nuclear weapons; and I believe it is trying to guide us through this very risky situation we now find ourselves in.
