There is some hope that the "free world" society will become more open in the future to alternative (non-religious) description of nature due to success and accuracy of science versus inadequate religion description of the world relying on "word of God" about 6000 year old universe, Adam and resurrection.

Recently I saw "Sign of the time" in local Barnes & Noble book store. The shelfs which were labeled as "Religion" before, now are re-labeled as "Religious fiction".

By the way, modern SCIENCE makes some progress toward resurrection. Not literal resurrection(this is prohibited by natural laws, once inevitable damage to brain is made by decomposition of protein structures), but by prolonging human life span to 100+ active years and by protecting him against sure death. Say, war in Afghanistan did claim very few american deaths, mainly due to technology. Thanks to science, today solders do not have to go under shelling fire and to die to defeat the enemy. Instead, they may sit comfortably in front of computer a thousand mile away from danger and guide a missile to the target they like, using just a joystick. Or even less - just watch on the screen the trajectory of self-guided weapon. Is not that a kind of resurrection?

And there is some progress toward almost literal resurrection. I mean two other active areas of research - cloning, brain-computer interface, and cryogenics. Soon (I hope), you may "resurrect" yourself by cloning your body and transfering information from your "old" brain to your "new" one. Or by freezing yourself in liquid N and defreezing in some future.

So, progress of SCIENCE, not religion, makes miracles true (by the way, mainly by understanding physical/mathematical way of working of cells, brain, DNA, etc.)
