Alex,

The time asymmetry used by most interpretations of QED and Maxwell's equations is not assumed by the absorber theory. I see many holes in the absorber theory, but it is one of those theories that needs periodic review because as the understanding of physics changes we may see the absorber theory in a new (advanced)light.
