Sloppy Comparison

Michael,

I agree that Christianity should be appreciated for its good intentions. But the comparison between Bertrand Russell and the Bible is pretty sloppy.

I can't recall any of Bertrand Russell's essays where he didn't go out of his way to emphasize that his ideas were merely opinions.

On the other hand, the Bible demands that I believe its every word, even going so far as to threaten eternal damnation.

Hence, it's more logical to reject the Bible as a whole, but espouse some of its ideas.
