Additionally, as long 'believers' redefine their requirements for a deity, there will be no end to the ontological twists and turns our history of 'god' will take.

The day atheists and theists agree with each other is the day theists define atheism as theism, and vice-versa.

I think it was Asimov, the book is "The Final Question" (I believe) -- it follows this line of thinking. Or, more accurately, I have followed its line of thinking... ASimov's, that is.
