: In the book of Isiah, God indeed said he created evil for thr purpose of testing the human faith in a series of "tests" tribulations.Earthquakes in the general sense aren't evil, but when a loved one dies, sometimes we blame God and ask why. It is said many times, that we will be tested. He also said that angels walk among us to try our faith. Christ said that he came to find the lost sheep (sinners).

However, SOME theists believe that God knows everything. Thus, he knows our characters before we're even born. Thus, it would be a contradiction to test humans, if he already knows the outcome. If life is only a test, God doesn't know how we're going to turn out.
