It may happen that chain of mathematical consequences may never end. Big Bang from inflation, inflation from false vacuum, false vacuum from something else, etc. Math allows both: act of creation (0=+1-1, so you CAN have plenty of stuff "from nothing", provided that you also should have plenty of "antistuff") and infinite chain of if-then conversions. Even both: along infinite chain you may have originating ("branching") pairs of opposite quantities of various stuff.

I DO NOT know the answer - which scenario is most likely the case. What I DO know, however, that EVERY phenomenon we know, upon close look has its MATHEMATICAL origin from more fundamental phenomenon. Science does not know anything which would NOT follow from more fundamental mathematical objects (unless we still do not know well those more fundamental objects yet, as is the case with false vacuum).

I simply do not see opportunity to insert such fuzzy object as god into any existing mathematical if-then chain of events and objects in universe. Seeing those chains all over the place and knowing how they work "from inside" (as a professional schientist) I put zero hope to place gods at the CURRENT end of any known chain, because tomorrow this chain will be 1 link longer and then gods have to move again. And again and again and again, as it was many times in the past.
