Today, Azerbaijan is 93.4% Islamic (although many are non-practicing) which, if anything, has only decreased over the years. If my memory is correct you are from the middle of the country near the Caspian sea area, right (same area that is heavily Muslim)? Also, you were from an area very close to Iran (maybe a 100 miles max?).

Incidentally, there's a 89% chance that you speak Azerbaijani...
