That's Induction

You can't mark off equal increments of space with space itself. You have to mark off increments using a self-referential device (such as a ruler). That's induction.

With time, you can't mark off equal increments of time with time itself. You have to mark off increments using a self-referential device (such as a clock). That's induction.

The only difference is how you perceive space vs. how you perceive time. You perceive time as a whole, but you perceive space in thirds.

But it's all just induction. There's nothing to see except matter itself. And matter conforms to both sets of self-referential measurements we impose upon it.
