The "Holy Grail" of physics is to obtain that good ol' stubborn and elusive "Theory of Everything" (single mathematical framework from which all myriad matter & forces can be derived and explained).

Sparked by the Greeks, "science" (or the pursuit of knowledge) has been a two thousand year-old intellectual quest for meaning and truth, correct?

What a state of ultimate spiritual bliss it would be to look upon the "equation of everything" and understand fully what it means! It would be akin to knowing the thought process of God Almighty when he undertook the task of creating the cosmos... It would be "truth" displayed on a silver platter before the eyes of the mathematically inclined.

I believe that for a physicist upon discovering this "Holy Grail", he (or she) will have accomplished the aquisition of a state of "intellectual Zen". In essence, you reach the spiritual (creation, meaning, truth, purpose, reality) through science.
