But not as clear as to understand why math works and religion does not.

Focus.

If "something" exist, then call it "yes", ot "true", or "1". Call absence of this "something" as "no", "false", "0" etc.

Now you see that ANY existing object immediately becomes mathematical object from the moment it comes to existence.

Therefore, math correctly describes and predicts behavior of ALL EXISTING objects.
