is through solutions to Einstein's equation like the Schwarzchild and Kerr solutions. From these equations (metrics) you can derive formulas (such as equations of motion) to predict how objects will behave in a grav field. All you need for this is algebra, some trig and calculus. M-Theory is a 10-dimensional 'Matrix Theory' which also includes 11-dimensional supergravity. You might find this set of forums interesting
