was just early attempts to explain nature. Science has largely superceded religion in this regard. So in that sense science and religion have the same goals. Science just does better at it within its limitations. But still quite alot is left out. Unless you assume that there is nothing beyond the limits of science. Then you have to explain how the limits of science can keep expanding.
