: : : Phil.o.sofir: : : : ***Time, the essence of measurment by man, is in fact meaningless except as a convenient tool for squeezing logic out of our surrondings, just like mathematics. Its a good thing for us, but should be seen as a useful idea and not reality.

: : : Greg: : : : Experiments done with three syncronized atomic clocks, one at rest on the ground, one flying east, and one flying west, show nano-second gains and losses in time which are in accord with Einstein's Special Theory of Relativity WithiN an approved of margin of error. This means that the caesium-133 atoms in these clocks were giving off different vibrations of microwave radiation during specified atomic rearrangements. This demonstrates that Time is indeed a dimension in and of itself, an objective reality that is far from meaningless, but instead is of significant consequence in our understanding of the nature of reality.

: : : Phil.o.sofir: : : : As far as life is concerned, it seems as if there is a conception that life IS THE main purpose of the universe, and only then do you apply that it is expanding as long as possible "for Life". This coincidence is a bias of this belief that life is the "goal" or purpose of the universe, thus supposing that it is intelligently designed, and thus supposing that such a designer could only have been a god............... : : : We are here, it is present, awareness is neat...

: : : Greg: : : : All of the universe is evolving, first through elemental evolution in the stellar furnace, then towards life in the formation of organic molecules, then towards Awareness with the formation of life, and then towards Self-Awareness through biological evolution. It is not hard to suppose that this is the purpose of the Universe, since it is the result of all the evolution that preceeds it. The coincidence I speak of is not a bias of any kind since it is merely an observation of the nature of the Laws of Physics, and the consequences of the effects of one in particular on the Universe as a whole.

: : bzrd here: I might add, given the immense improbability of life evolving from inert matter and lack of evidence to suggest that it evolved to the point of us discussing it, makes all of this rather mute. What many people take for evidence for evolution can be catogorized as variation within a species, which, in turn, can easily be interpreted according to the Creationist paradigm (often without much of the mental gymnastics employed by the evolutionists). For example, it is common knowledge that the fossil record is anti-Darwinian, in order to account for this "punctuated equilibrium" was invented, which more or less states that, speciation occurs suddenly in the geologic time-scale, followed by periods of stasis. So, one asks, where is the evidence for punctuated equilibrium? "It's in the fossil record you dounce!"

: ***The simple fact that we/life is here squashes the improbobility argument, for there is nothing in existance that we know of that there is only one of, using terminology one could argue that there is only one of each individual, but then you are talking about uniqueness of difference within an overall sameness of billions. Or of course that there is only one god, and only when viwed within the closed system of certain religions. : As far as the fossil record and punctuated evolution, what exactly is your main argument, you do not mean to discount all the evolutionary evidence on this argument do you? Dinosuars...
