That the universe neither expands nor contracts... it just is as it is, unchanging for eternity.

It's not the universe that expands and contracts, it's the individual space-time slices that increase in size from slice to slice and then proceed to decrease in size (perhaps even inflate). Us humans perceive "time" to be a jump into a new slice, and as time progresses, the slices increase and then decrease (expand and contract).
