Humans have created many artificial organs, tissues, etc. It's not an entirely bizarre guess to predict that someday we will have artificial lobes (brain parts).

Then the day might come when we can replace an entire brain with an artificial one, in quarters, for instance. Once this procedure is completed, where might we say this person's consciousness come from? Would it be a major crisis for some to accept that this artificial bunch of nerves is generating/maintaining a personality?
