Consciouseness is a state of those brain cells which govern speach (=thoughts) and some of those which process visual and other sensor info. Active cell = conscious, inactive = unconscious.

Activity of all other brain cells is what we call subconsciouseness. Because only minor amount of brain cells are involved in speech and sensor signals processing, most of brain work is subconscious.

Now, how do dolphins figure this out?
