: : But which came first? Cause or effect? Is it an unseperatable whole that we cannot fanthom?

: : Does the answer really matter right now?

: : Creation, indeed the mystery that continues to evade our perception.

: : To answer your question, me thinks that by definition, the cause produces its effect in time. Though I do see where you're coming from with the unfathomable part. Greg however, would disagree with you.

: However, I think it does matter. Trying to understand the nature of things is the sole reason why our knowledge of the universe has catapulted to the extent that it has. If we merely accepted the premise that "some things will always elude our perception; let's not even bother," science would never have advanced to the level it has. Sure, maybe some things might never be understood, but by continuing to find the truth, we come closer and closer to objective truth (even if we never reach it). Science strives to do just that, and in many ways it's been for the better for all of humanity (although it has produced such horrors as the atomic bomb).

Agreed. There is no doubt that we cannot restrain ourselves from seeking answers. But do we seek to understand our perception? Through understanding of our construction of perception lead us to answers or mysteries of (a) or (some) truth and objectiveness? If we can't make sense of our perception, what then is objective?

The "methodology" of science. It's meaning has become synonymous with religion and politics. An ugly word we use to loosely somtimes.
