Bear in mind that objectivity itself is not a belief system, it's a process that leads to a belief system. So, rather than debate about God vs. no God in an argument about objectivism, it must first be reduced to logic vs. intuition. Since science is more logical and religion more intuitive, a lot of people view a debate on the merits of objectivity to be the same as an attack on religion, which it isn't. It's just an attack on religion's intuitive foundations. You can't use the roof to support the ground floor: anyone arguing against objectivity has to argue the advantages of subjectivity: not religion. Objectivity is not atheism, and subjectivity is not fundamentalism; they're just branches off a larger trunk.
