I'm saying that the consequences of one action may not seem too large at the time. However, who knows what may be the result of that action when compounded further. The best example is numeric.
Take a number, add it to it self, repeat.

1 -> 1+1 -> 2 Not much of a difference
2 -> 2+2 -> 4 A little bigger now
4 -> 4+4 -> 8 Significant change
8 -> 8+8 -> 16 Woah! Slow down there
...5 steps later
512 -> 512 + 512 -> 1024 HEY! What happened to 1?

I sadly believe that this conflict will lead to a nuclear strike in Afghanistan and Iraq. Doesn't look like it will happen now, but there are so many things that can go wrong in this scenerio!
