There is no way to stop certain disasters (comets hitting earth, and in the far future, the sun dying). Our only way out is to move outward. To Mars (either terraforming or in 'bubbles,' then to other star systems. The more humans spread, the greater the chance of us surviving longer. It's like a cosmic insurance policy - Sagan talks of it in "Pale Blue Dot." |
