I enjoy political debates at least as much as philosophical ones. Well, maybe it wouldn't fit in too well with a site based on astronomy. What we need is a euphemism. Maybe "The Science of Politics?" :)

Anyway, regardless of the consequences of this action, I think it's going to change everything. Freedom has a kind of inverse relationship with safety, and the demand for safety and security will, I think, force us to give up many of the freedoms we take for granted, and I fear permanently. I'm not a libertarian, I view these measures as neccesary, but once the conflict is over we may be stuck in an Orwellian government.

Of course, I may be a paranoid, schizophrenic lunatic. :) But I think that there are some rough waters ahead.
