What you wrote is correct, and it takes away some of the embarrassment. I don't know if God favors the U.S. any more than any other place, but I think that there is no doubt that our Constitution and our form of government have proved themselves to be superior to all others the world has ever seen.

The freedom and concomitant responsibility that each citizen enjoys here have given not only all those immigrants you mentioned, but all the rest of us, the opportunity to make this country the powerhouse it is.

As for its obvious faults, I don't think too many of our homeless people would accept a free one-way ride to very many other countries. I don't think many of our minorities would accept a free one-way ride to the country of their ancestral origin if they had to stay there. I doubt that many of our incarcerated criminals would accept a transfer to a prison in very many other countries either. And so on.

But I don't think this excuses our educational system. It is still an embarrassment and seems to be in a headlong rush to utter failure and collapse. I just heard that many colleges now offer classes in pornography. Wonderful!!!

We should rightly be proud of our country, but we should be ashamed at what we have done to our educational institutions.
