The same protein may participate in many cellular activities at a time. So, removing its gene can shut down useful activities too. Therefore, we need to learn as much as we can about feedbacks in genetic machine and interactions of proteins - by continuing experimenting with e-coli, fruit fly, mice, sheep and monkeys (and, may be, on early-stage human embryos).

The cell is complex machine, and modelling it is still hoplessly difficult with available knowledge and computer power. Thus the experiments are still the only reliable source of information about its working.

But no sights of gods in genes/cellular machinery. Only chemistry (=quantum mechanics = math).
