for 'deep sky' photos you need a fast (low f/ : something under f/6 .. the etx is like a f/14 or something... tooo slow).. you also need a very steady mount, big aperture (i seldom see great deep sky photos in apertures less than 8'' (s-c or reflectors) or 4'' refractor) and lots of time for exposure, not to mention the camera adaptation equip.. .... i would ask around in your nearby astronomy clubs for used equipment / and or borrow someones equipment and save save save .. i would be surprised if you could get all you need for under $2000
