This is what I read in Popular Science 97 September issue: The nearest star, Alpha Centauri, is about 4.3 light years from earth ( About 25,262,500,000,000 miles) away. For interstellar travel at 1 million miles per hour, it would take about 2,882 to reach Alpha Centauri. Researched by: Cyrus F.
