Maybe someone can answer this question... three different people from Taiwan have told me that the moon looks bigger here in Southern California than in Taiwan. They insist they are not talking about the "horizon effect". My astronomer friend and my own research says that this has no scientific basis in atmospheric refraction, closeness to the moon's plane, etc.

The one lady who started this is going to ask her mother in Toronto if the moon is yet bigger there...
