I'm having this discussion with a friend of mine over the importance of the sun's heat and how it is a requirement for lif to flourish. His arguement is, if one takes the sun away from our solar system, every planet, moon, etc will be frozen solid, therefore life will not flourish.

My arguement is, if you take away the sun, planets and moons have their own way of heating themselves up with gravitational pull from one another much like how europa, io, and the rest of the moons of jupiter and saturn is.

Now, we're not atronomist or physicist, but any clarification on this is greatly appreciated.
