No clue on the first one, as for the second... it has to do with the tilt and rotation of the earth,Now the last question, If the sun were to stop giving off light and heat, we would find no real change...until about 8 minutes later(thats roughly how long it takes for light to travel from the Sun to the Earth)at that time Earth would be plunged into darkness(hope I have telescope out)and the cold would set in rather quickly (I think)making the ice age look like a summer vacation in the tropics.
