Orion's Belt - Is There A Comet There?

Had a very clear view of the sky last night and notice that below Orion's belt was a white trail with what looked like a bright spot at one end, espaecially when you looked slightly away. It looked just like the comets I've seen in the past and just wondered if it could have been one?
