Hi Michael,

I have a 4.5" reflecter and I am well pleased, but I would check with other mags and co's. The advise I received was to purchase as much scope as you can afford. However, too much can be a problem as in size and portibility etc.

When shopping for a scope always check the accessory packege such as eps, finder scope, stand etc. If the scope you purchase does not come with good accessories than you might end up paying a good bit to upgrade. Most scopes come with inferior eps. The plossls you mentioned are a plus. Check telescope.com ie Orion products, Meade, Celestron, and many other sites on the web such as Hand On Optics.

Some advise that you start out with a good pair of binoculars, learn the sky, read up on all the different scopes available and than make a pick. In short, take your time.

Good luck,

lenny
