You mention an interest in astrophotography.

The 12" LX200 GPS is a great scope for astrophotography, if you have a permanent pier. Solid forks. Great GOTO and tracking. PEC works now with the latest firmware. Oh, the uploadable firmware is a great feature, too.

If you will be transporting the scope, the 10" LX200 GPS is the limit. The 12" scope is for two people. The 10" scope, sans tripod, is 63lbs and a strain to handle. It won;t even fit in many cars. I can barely get it in the backseat of my Chevy Impala.

I bought "Big Blue" for astrophotography. I use it with an STV Deluxe autoguider. I love it!
