I am more into theology than astronomy. But as a student there is something I have wondered about for a length of time that has to do with Orion. I would like to get the scientific facts and their resources to either confirm or disprove a statement made by the prophet of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Her name was Ellen G. White and she wrote the following in 1848 regarding the nebula in Orion. The writer was describing the events that will take place under the seventh vial of God's wrath as predicted in Revelation 16:17-21. At that time, when the voice of God sounds from the throne, there will be a mighty earthquake, and she writes "the sun, moon, and stars will be moved out of their place. They will not pass away, but be shaken by the voice of God. Dark, heavy clouds come up, and clashed against each other. The atmosphere parted and rolled back; then we [Ellen White in vision] could look up through the open space in Orion, whence came the voice of God. The holy city [the one described in Revelation 21:2]will come through that open space"--EARLY WRITINGS, p. 41. This is a remarkable claim and I am looking for evidence to either support or debunk this claim about the open space in Orion through which the city of God is supposed to descend. Her followers claim that the city of God is now located beyond the the mighty cavern in the depth's of Orion's nebula! It you have any scientific material or could recommend any resources it would be appreciated. Many thanks.
