Heat And Vibrations

As you note, big worries include:


  • Heat from the rooftop,
  • Vibrations from the house.


Heat from the root top might my helped by simply spraying water on it after a long hot day to speed removal of heat. I worked at an observatory in Arizona where the asphalt roads around the complex were specially made with a certain "color" substance that made it look like the surrounding soil heat-wise.

Vibrations will most likely be a problem, but can be reduced with quite-time rules in the household. I will be very interested to hear about how your house sways in the wind.

It may be prudent to rig up a platform that will sit on your roof apex so you can take a few CCD images and see if you will have these problems. Better to learn this now rather than after all that hard work; You would still wind up with a cool roof though.
